Welcome to the friendliest ham radio club in North Carolina!

Tri-County Amateur Radio Club (NC4AR) was originally established in 1998 to bring together the many ham radio operators in Randolph, Davidson, and Guilford Counties of North Carolina. Today, we serve those counties and neighboring areas, including the towns of Thomasville, High Point, Lexington, Asheboro, and others in the rural areas south of Greensboro and Winston-Salem.

All amateur radio operators are welcomed with open arms into our group and it costs nothing to join -- club dues are waived for all new members for their first calendar year. New members who join during the last quarter (Oct. - Dec.) even get credit for the next calendar year in its entirety!

Our 2-meter repeater on 145.290 MHz (-600 kHz offset, 88.5 Hz tone) is open to all hamsPlease join us there on Thursday nights at 8:00 pm for our weekly net. You need not be a member to take part in the net.  The net is usually also carried on a number of other local repeaters via cross-linking on 2 meters, 440, 6 meters, and 220. No matter what band suits your fancy for local traffic, you'll find us on Thursday nights if you just tune around.

Our club, founded by Frank Hoover (NU4NC), Bobby Williams (K4OJT), and Gerald Robertson (KF4NEF), provides public service and emergency communications for the local Red Cross and other agencies in time of need. At other times -- which, thankfully, is most of the time -- we just have fun with amateur radio, taking part in ARRL Field Day, special events, contests, DXing, satellites (AMSAT), and all other aspects of this great hobby called amateur radio. We also have classes for new hams and old hams in our area.

If you're a local ham or just thinking of becoming one, please join us for breakfast at 8:30 am on the second Saturday of each month, normally at Loflin's Restaurant in Thomasville, 108 Randolph Street. [NOTE: Check this page for latest place and time.  The pandemic has affected our ability to meet in person.]  Sometimes we have a special program and sometimes we just enjoy breakfast together. New faces and new voices are always a special treat for us, so don't be shy. You might feel like a stranger when you walk in the door, but you sure won't feel like one when you leave.
