It is with a heavy heart I must announce FL has passed. I will forward arrangements when I learn of them.

Please keep Barbara and the kids in your thoughts and prayers.

Said goodbye to a wonderful man this morning at his memorial service. WW4FL Silent Key

Back in the early 90's I was nothing but a pimple faced high school kid. I saved up money mowing grass for weeks and weeks so I could purchase a hand held police scanner. One day I was looking through the the band charts in the manual and saw all these bands for amateur radio. I had no idea what amateur radio was and my curiosity was high. My scanner was only 10 channels and I had to manually program frequency by frequency trying to find something on this amateur radio stuff. I programmed 147.000 and I had a signal. I heard two guys talking about radios and one guy identified as WW4FL and gave out his home phone number over the air to who ever this other guy was he was talking to. I wrote down his number and later called. FL answered the phone and I explained to him I heard him give out his phone number over the air and I had some questions about this "amateur radio". He spoke to me like he had known me his entire life. He was so helpful giving me local frequencies to listen to and even invited me to come to his house. Several years later (10 to be exact) he was a VE that tested me for my technician license. He elmered me and got me upgraded to General and Extra Class. I will forever be grateful for FL and I can only hope to have a fraction of the knowledge he had. WW4FL de KG4TAH 73 my friend.
