SOTA is a worldwide program that provides incentive, in the way of points and certificates, to operate potable transceivers from designated mountaintops. Your best source of information, and where several websites will direct you, is http://www.sota.org.uk/Joining-In

After you have read up on the program you might want to set up accounts to send/receive spots and keep track of you points.

SOTA main- http://www.sota.org.uk/account/register
SOTAwatch spots- http://www.sotawatch.org/user.php?action=new
SOTAdata log- http://www.sotadata.org.uk/register.aspx

Hopefully that will get anyone interested headed in the right direction.

I've been reading up on SOTA and have found quite a few folks that have blogs complete with pics about their activations.

I've already registered in anticipation for the club outing and am looking forward to it! Since there will be several of us there working different bands it would seem prudent for each individual working for points to post your anticipated activation at sotawatch.org (log in, click the "alerts" tab, then click "new alert"). That way the summit (W4C-EP-007), date, time, and frequency/mode you'll be working will be posted for chasers.

Our club has permission to activate Mt. Shepherd on April 1, 2017. Join us as after the monthly club meeting at Denny's, for an afternoon of hiking and amateur radio. Radios are provided, ( unless you have a personal portable favorite ), and no experience is necessary. If you have a question, post it here, or give me or Josh a call.

The logs have been compiled and submitted, along with the S2S contact that was made.
