REPORTS:

1) Treasurer’s report: Ed

Payment of dues will need to be by cash or check. The PayPal option will no longer be available.


BUSINESS:

1) Welcome new officers

2) Next VE test session In Thomasville at the library is Saturday 1/20/18 @ 09:30h.

High Point has lost their test site, and they have directed applicants to our site among others. We suspect that High Point is looking for alternative site locations.


3) Winter Field Day at the Thomasville Caboose. Saturday 1/27

Disasters are unpredictable, and can strike when you least expect them. World Field Day's goal is to help enhance radio skills and get us ready for environmental conditions found in the US and Canada during the coldest of months.

When: Winter Field Day runs for 24 hours from 1900 UTC (2pm EST) Saturday to 1900 UTC (2pm EST) Sunday.

Station set-up will be on Saturday at noon.

Pizza between 4 and 5.

We expect to operate on 40 meters SSB, Saturday afternoon and evening.



4) Dues are due in January $25 per individual and $30 per family.

We accept check or cash. Please make out checks to Ed Martin. Do not make out your checks payable to the club. The club has no bank account.


5). NC QSO Party. SUNDAY FEB 25. 10am to 8pm EST

Three Cabins have been rented at HANGING ROCK STATE PARK. We have reserved the cabins for Saturday and Sunday nights. Setup will be Saturday afternoon. We will breakdown the station on Monday morning. Our club provides food. Please mark your calendars. This is our clubs premier event. We are hoping to continue our winning streak. For the past few years we have set up two stations. This time we will be setting up 3 stations. 40m, 20m, 80/15

Overnight cost per participant: $60

Day trippers will be asked to make a donation to help the club offset the cost of food and lodging.


6) NCQP award sponsorship by our club.

We voted to sponsor an award again this year as in years past.

7) Presentation by Ron Barber W4CHI

Ron introduced us to the relatively new and exciting FT8 mode of digital operation.


9) Discussion on meeting location

Investigations are being made to evaluate whether to return to Denny’s, continue meeting at Tommy’s BBQ, or seek other alternatives. More information will be provided after options are evaluated. Input is welcome – contact a club officer with observations or suggestions.
