Tri-County Amateur Radio Club
Minutes of Meeting: 12 December 2020

A regular monthly meeting of the Tri-County Amateur Radio Club was held on Saturday, 12 December 2020 at 8:30 am EST on the 441.800 MHz repeater and other linked repeaters pursuant to Section 4.4 of the bylaws, with the president, W4DAE-David, being in the chair. The meeting was called to order at 8:39 am. This meeting was also the club's 2020 annual meeting under the bylaws.

The on-air meeting was supplemented by a members-only Remote Meeting forum on NC4AR.org where members could post comments, make and second motions, and participate in discussion during the preceding week. A description of the remote meeting procedure was e-mailed to members on 28 November 2020.

Members Attending: W4DAE, David; KW4IL, Bart; K4KKT, Joe; W8LWX, John; KF4NEF, Gerald; KG4TAH, Tony; and KJ4UYR, Janice.

Guests: None.

Adoption of Agenda

A draft agenda was distributed prior to commencement of the meeting. As no changes had been proposed in the online discussion prior to the on-air meeting, the draft agenda was adopted.

Approval of Minutes from Previous Meeting

Reading of the minutes of the November 2020 meeting was waived, and they were then adopted, both actions by unanimous consent.

Reports of Officers and Committees

Report of the Treasurer. -- W8LWX reported the following from the month-end treasury report for 11/30/20: balance of remaining operating funds budgeted, $180.00; cash on hand, $1,258.08; uncommitted resources (cash on hand net of operating fund balance), $1,078.08; year-to-date income from dues and donations, $708.00; year-to-date expenses, $482.60; year-to-date net income, $225.40. The full report can be obtained by club members from the Downloads area of NC4AR.org.

Report of the Secretary. -- W8LWX reported that had been no roster changes and no correspondence since the previous monthly meeting.

Report of the President. -- W4DAE, David, reported that the club repeater is now coordinated at its current location and that all details on file with the Southeastern Repeater Association (SERA) are up to date. The club's 2020 budget allocation for SERA dues will not be spent because it turns out that keeping the repeater coordinated does not require SERA membership or payment of dues. The $42 originally allocated in January 2020 (for $35 in dues, plus an extra $7 safety buffer to allow for any possible increase) will be returned to the club's general fund. Now that the repeater is fully coordinated and in a stable location, we'll continue to work on optimizing it there. If we become aware of an opportunity for a different location that would work better, the club can still pursue that, if desired, and recoordinate if necessary.

Open Motions from November 2020 Meeting

There were no unresolved motions from the previous meeting.

New Business

Section 4.1 of the club's bylaws states that "[t]he regular meeting for December of each year shall be the annual meeting." Section 5.3 provides that officers shall be elected for a term of one year at the annual meeting in December. The Nominating Committee having nominated the current officers to serve again, and there being no other nominations from the floor at the previous meeting, the 2021 officers were elected by acclamation as follows: W4DAE, David, as president; KW4IL, Bart, as vice-president; and W8LWX, John, as secretary-treasurer.

Program and Announcements

W4DAE reiterated that there will be no Thursday Night club nets on December 24 (Christmas Eve) or December 31 (New Year's Eve) this year.

Dues for 2021 can be paid anytime now! It is not necessary to wait until the start of the new year. Since we are still unable to hold meetings in person, the quickest and easiest way for most members to pay is by using the PayPal button on the NC4AR.org website (far right side of the Home page, near the top). Several members have already paid.

Members are reminded that, when renewing ARRL dues, you can use a promo code to get a free book. Even if you've done this often enough that you already have all the books, you might want to consider getting a duplicate anyway and donating it to the club so your fellow NC4AR members can use it.

Adjournment

There being no further business on the agreed agenda, the meeting was adjourned without objection at 8:57 am. A post-meeting on-air roundtable discussion then commenced, concluding at 9:11 am.
