Tri-County Amateur Radio Club
Minutes of Meeting: 19 Feb. 2022

A regular monthly meeting of the Tri-County Amateur Radio Club was held on Saturday, 19 February 2022 at 8:30 am EST in Room 221 of the Finch Building at Davidson-Davie Community College, 297 DCC Road, Thomasville, with the president, W4DAE-David, being in the chair.  The meeting was called to order at 8:30 am.

Members Attending:  K8AOK, Donn; W4DAE, David; K4KKT, Joe; W8LWX, John; KJ4NUS, Steve; KF4QDS, John; KK4RR, Richard; NL7UP, MeLinda; and KJ4UYR, Janice.

Guests: KO4JHG, Jon; Tom Williams; and Fred Willingham.

Adoption of Agenda

A draft agenda, which had been distributed prior to commencement of the meeting, was adopted by unanimous consent.

Approval of Minutes from Previous Meeting

By unanimous consent, reading of the minutes of the January 2022 meeting was waived and they were adopted.

Reports of Officers and Committees

Report of the Secretary. -- As of 18 February 2022, the club had 50 members, of whom 23 were in good standing and another 27 still owed dues for 2022.

Report of the Treasurer. --  For the month ending January 31, 2022, we still had $720 set aside as operating funds, out of our initial budget of $850.  We had a total of $1,033.61 in "cash on hand," which includes the balances of our checking, savings, and PayPal accounts, plus any currency, coins, and checks awaiting deposit. By subtracting our operating fund reserves from cash on hand, we see that we had $313.61 in uncommitted resources as of 01/31/22. Through the first month of 2022, we had received $215 in dues and donations and had spent $136.40, resulting in year-to-date net income of $78.60.

Dues for 2022 became payable as of the date of the January meeting. Under our bylaws, any member who owes dues but has not paid within 90 days thereafter (i.e., by April 15, 2022) will be automatically dropped from the membership roster.  Dues can be paid via PayPal on NC4AR.org, or by tendering cash or a check to the club treasurer.  Any check must be made payable to Tri-County Amateur Radio Club.

Report of the President. --  W4DAE reported the following:

A decision is required about the date and venue for our April meeting.  It won't be possible to hold it at DDCC on the usual third Saturday of the month because DDCC will be closed for spring break. It has also been suggested that, since the third weekend also is Easter weekend, it might be wise to pick a different weekend. KK4RR has indicated that there will be no testing session in April.

For the NC QSO Party on the last weekend of February, KK4RR will be unable to offer use of the "club shack" behind his house this year.  The president will send an e-mail to the member mailing list regarding the NC QSO Party describing possible options for members to participate, whether individually or with the club's call sign.  There are two HF units at NL7UP's home QTH, which has been offered for club members who wish to go there for the NC QSO Party.

Our ARRL Field Day committee for 2022 could use more volunteers to help organize the club's participation in the event, which will take place during the last full weekend of June.  The committee currently consists of W4DAE, KJ4NUS, and KK4RR.  W4DAE and KJ4NUS will organize food prep, while KK4RR will attend to securing the operating site and required equipment.

Open Motions from Previous Meeting

There were no open motions from the previous meeting.

New Business

W8LWX moved that the April monthly meeting be held at 8:30 am on Saturday, April 9, 2022 (the second Saturday, rather than the third) at the same location we've been using (Room 221 of the Finch Building at Davidson-Davie Community College, 297 DCC Road, Thomasville).  The motion was adopted by unanimous consent.

Program and Announcements

No program was presented, but as a continuing part of our 2022 "bring one, take one" gear swap, some angled coaxial connectors and an 8-foot copper ground rod were made available.

There being no further business on the agreed agenda, the meeting was adjourned without objection at 9:06 am.

Respectfully submitted,
/s/ W8LWX-John
